This Illinois State Police-approved course satisfies the training requirement to apply for an Illinois Concealed Carry License. More importantly, you'll receive practical, real-world instruction from experienced defensive firearms instructors who are committed to preparing you for far more than just passing a qualification.

Course Topics

During this two-day course, students will learn:

• Firearm safety and safe handling

• Fundamentals of marksmanship

• Handgun operation and maintenance

• Ammunition knowledge

• Illinois firearm laws

• Concealed carry laws and prohibited locations

• Use of force and legal considerations

• Conflict avoidance and situational awareness

• Defensive mindset and responsible concealed carry

• Home defense considerations

• State-required live-fire qualification

• 16 hours of Illinois State Police-approved instruction

• Live-fire range qualification

• Illinois CCL Certificate of Completion

What to Bring

Please bring the following items to class:

• Government-issued photo ID

• Handgun in safe working condition

• Minimum of 150 rounds of factory ammunition

• At least two magazines

• Eye and ear protection

• Firearm cleaning kit, including gun cleaner and gun oil

• Weather-appropriate clothing for the live-fire portion of training

• Water and snacks (optional)

Prerequisites

• Must be at least 21 years of age to apply for an Illinois Concealed Carry License (or otherwise meet Illinois eligibility requirements).

• No prior firearms experience is required, although students should have a basic understanding of safe firearm handling. If you're brand new to firearms, we recommend taking our Basic Pistol course before attending.
